I’m flying… Despite the problems face during the passing for the minutes on today’s AGM as well as for the passing of the treasurer’s report… The whole meeting went quite smoothly… We are finally dicairkan (dissolved) as mentioned by Mr Kenny… Goodbye old EXCO… Hello new ones…

And I feel that I might fall again

And I cant help feeling nervous…

After a year’s term… Its finally over… And I can’t feel any sense of excitedness or relief as of now…

Perhaps the only relief that I could obtain is once the AGM is over…

God, please help all of us…

Just when I thought I could fly becoz most of the FYP things are done… I fall again…

This time its for the CSS AGM… which is going to be held tomorrow…

Tell me now… What to you tell a person who couldn’t decide whether he likes tennis more or being in CSS more… Dumbfolded… And there are so many problems… Hope they dont really become major problems for tomorrow… I’ve mentioned before that if there are not enuff ppl coming, I wont start the AGM this time… So pls come ppl… 2pm… At Gazebo… In formal…

If there are not enuff ppl… problem… if too many ppl might be problem as well…

If some ppl ask too much also problem… If those who are suppose to come didnt come problem again

Sien all problems… Really hope I can fly tomorrow nite… Oh wait.. I can’t… I have to complete 3 chapters of my thesis before the end of this month… And… havent touch for the Moltox paper on Tuesday… When can I truly fly?

And the babies?? They are doing fairly well… Except for one thou… Its missing… Only conclusions I can come up with is that it died…or~~ it was eaten by its mum… (It happens)

Anyway… I dont think I’ll be uploading the pictures from today’s work up here becoz it may seem to be a little bit disgusting for certain ppl… And that I hate to end up meeting with the ethics committee…  Hahaha…

In the end it wasnt a race against time at all…. Since I scrapped off the freezing part… cuz I truly .. hontoni has no idea on how to do it… And noone has any experience in it as well… That was the saddening part actually.. Felt I let the Dr down again…

The tiring part is… 8am –> 5pm… Without food… And stomach came growling in the end…

Today, Wednesday and Thursday… The busiest…~~

Today is the day of running and asking for help…

Why?

I had a list of things to do drawn up earlier today… And the list was long~~

After skipping class and finishing my forcefeeding (and found another dead).. I rushed to vet faculty to settle the items for request of service… Then went to go for Japanese class… which was cancelled… And then went back to faculty… to have lunch… Then comes the part where I tried to complete everything on my list…

Moved essential items from 5th floor lab to ground floor lab for tomorrow final treatment and dissection… Things include containers, syringes, tubes, needles, diethyl ether and formalin when I found out that the formalin I was suppose to get from someone got dirty and couldn’t be used. And then found out that the tubes I had couldn’t fit in the ground floor centrifuge… And then the worst is found out that my cosup still expect me to do tissue freezing which was the biggest problem since I didnt have the item to do this at all. And the time was… 4.30pm (they off work at 5pm)

And hence start the running around.

1. to settle the formalin… Went to see a lab assistant in HistoLab and clarify with her the correct way of preparing it. Luckily she was in and the whole thing took a few minutes only.

2. to settle the problems with the tubes… Went to HaemaLab to ask if I could borrow their centrifuge on Thursday and Friday or not… The lights are off but luckily one of the RA is still around… Getting ready to leave… Was relieved to find out that the tube can be used there… So obtained forms and settled the tube problem.

3.the biggest problem… freezing… What I tot: I was suppose to obtain a portion of the organ and fixed it with formalin… and thats done… What my cosup meant: Obtain the portion of the organ… Fix with formalin… and then freeze the remaining organs with liquid nitrogen and store at -80 degress freezer… There are a few problems here though… Which was… I had no experience in doing tissue freezing … and … I had no liquid nitrogen… and … I have no freezer… And this was when I started to panic… Ran around trying to ask ppl who got liquid nitrogen and who knows what to do… Referred to the RA at AnaLab which explain roughly to me… Then referred to AhTong at ImmLab who told me to refer to Yp of ImmLab as well… Yp was my saviour in explaining… He said that all to be done is to dip the organ into the liquid nitrogen and its done. Then the liquid nitrogen… I’ve messaged Mitsuki-chibichan of BcheLab, Anie of BmedLab and Lkuan of PhyLab. Annie gave a positive response saying that her lab has a freezer… While waiting for reply, RA of AnaLab told me that there was some liquid nitrogen up at MobioLab… Which I quickly rushed to… Saw Vsu there with Wee2 who referred me to another master student… Who said that its ok for me to use it… Thank God… Was suppose to find container to use for transporting it to AnaLab… but Han says can do it at MobioLab… Another saviour… So liquid nitrogen thing is somewhat solved… Then the freezer… Tipoff by Anie sent me running to BmedLab at which I saw Dren who introduced me to the freezer there… Thank God again I can use it. But Dren condition for tomorrow is that we must pass the item before 3pm… Since he’s leaving at 3pm. But nevertheless… I found a way to do it… And it was an hour before that I was sighing, thinking that its impossible… Thanks to everyone…

Wednesday~~~ Forecast

RACE against time…

Original plan was to do treatment at 9am…Sacrifice at 1pm (4hrs later) and then do puncture, dissection and freezing till 6pm…

Current plan due to the 3pm deadline means that I’ll have to push everything as early as possible… Starting to prepare media at 8.00am… Treatment at 8.30am… Sacrifice at 12.30pm… And puncture, and dissect and freezing before 3.00pm… Which is almost impossible… Dead…. Its the race against time… Really a race… Die~~ Can anyone help me??

Was going about my usual routine of attending class + preparing extract + force feeding rats + attending the 2 papers I had today (not to mention studying for it since Yours Truly fell asleep before he finished studying last nite)… Little that I know that I had a great big and somewhat unwanted surprise waiting for me…

 There I was… Finishing the 1st cage of rats I’m suppose to force feed, put it back… take the 2nd cage… and stared in horror…

OMG~~~~

It wasn’t a dead rat

It wasn’t a sick rat

But the shock is still bigger than what the two above could have meant…

I looked into the cage…

And I saw this

I blinked… Then look again…

Its still there…

OMG!!! Whose pups are these??? OMG OMG OMG !!!

How can my rats be PREGNANT???

I thought they were all suppose to be MALES!!!

Then I look again…

And I caught the suspect… RED HANDED!!!

This … Ladies and gentlemen… Is a female rat… Which is found in my cage…. And it is the one who gave birth~~~ How on Earth did a female rat got into my cage… Filled with male rats??

She wanted to give birth in the Year of the RAT is it?

Now you all can call me Grandpa Rat since my kids gave birth…

No wonder the rats in that cage look so tired at times… They’ve been up doing sex all nite long is it ??

OMG was the only word that came into my mind over and over again…

OMG~~~ How did it happen….? OMG…~~~

And slowly… the events one month ago began to unveil itself…

:One month ago:

I was changing the bedding for the cage for a group of the rats… When suddenly… I spotted a white rat on top of the cage which was sitting next to my cage of rats… Thinking that one of my rats has escaped… I did the most foolish thing I could have done throughout the whole project period… I picked it up and put it into my cage~~

A while later… While looking into my cage… I counted the rats (a normal practice I have to make sure everyone was there) … One, two, three, four, five….. SIX??? How can it be six when there was only supposed to be 5…Then I realized that the rat I found couldnt be mine… and might have escaped from another cage on the floor… So… I open up my cage… And simply took out one of the rat and place it into the other cage… And the whole idea of checking for its sex didnt occur to me as I didnt mark any of my rats yet…

And the result of this whole mistake…

:I’m not sure which cage I put my male rat into at the time… But I’m sure that he must have enjoyed living in a cage filled with females… And a really really big sorry to whosoever female rats that I have impregnanted with my male rat. It was my mistake… Sorry:

The thought of me possibly ruining another person’s project is terrible… Really truly terribly sorry…

I was really speechless when I remembered what happened…

The male rats in the cage kept quiet also… Refusing to admit to anything…

And they just keep quiet…

So I came out with a plan… If I ever have to work with rats again after this… The first thing I’m going to teach them… is this…

So that stuff like this don’t happen anymore…

Just came back from a reunion dinner organized by kouhais… And it was very well planned in my opinion… Only down side about it seemed to be the lack of food there :p.

The one thing which really grab my attention was the banner they made…

Erm… I dont really understand what most of it means anyway… But its something like erm… circle come something something again… Sorry cuz I am a banana

Anyway… As mention before … the food ain’t too great… Most notably the type of dishes served was really too little… Only 5 dishes…

First there was the sweet and sour fish… which I felt it was sour only… Yours truly didnt have a good appetite today and didn’t really eat the fish anyway…

Then there is the veggie… This tasted just ok I guess… Kinda plain but I’m not complaining

Now the best dish must be this… Fried eggs with crab meat (Haha). Absolutely love it!!

And some sort of meat… Which I didnt really eat also… Cuz frankly it was the worst dish of the nite…

And taufu something… Which I thought tasted ok…

And thats it… 5 dishes… for the whole dinner… Kinda sad rite? Haha…

Anyway… I didnt really have the appetite to eat lor… Maybe the flu bug still haven’t leave me entirely yet.

The third years didnt miss a chance to take a photo… Even though there was only ten of us…

And this is my super kouhai… Michlle… From what I can see she’s really a great person… Glad to have a kouhai like her

Another thing I’m really envious of is the bond the 1st years seem to share with each other… Erm… Not to say that the other years dont have that type of bond… But I feel that their bond… is something special… Now it kinda makes me wanna go into first year again.

Anyway… For those who noticed… Another new look with my hair… Which still went back to the above photo after a while… This was how it look in the beginning…

BIG difference… Haiz… Lousy hair of mine…
